An Ontario father has been charged with murder in the death of his seven-week-old infant, police say.

York Regional Police said that on Jan. 15, officers were contacted by the York Children’s Aid Society about a child who had been taken to hospital in Toronto.

“The seven-week-old infant had significant injuries which could not be explained by their parents,” police said.

The baby died on Jan. 18.

York police said their homicide unit charged the infant’s father on Oct. 23.

Richmond Hill resident Hei Yip, 30, faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Further information regarding the case hasn’t been released.

Anyone with information was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
