One person is dead after being ejected out of a vehicle during a crash involving a freightliner on Sunday morning.

GLASSCOCK COUNTY, Texas — A driver is dead following a crash that occurred at 2 a.m. Sunday morning in Glasscock County on US 87 at mile marker 400, according to Sergeant Steven Blanco with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver of a 2021 Jeep Cherokee, Johnny Munoz, 21, of Big Spring was traveling south in northbound lanes on the wrong side of the roadway.

Munoz then “struck” 45-year-old Shiraz Ahmed from Chestermere, Alberta Canada, who was driving a 2022 Freightliner with a trailer going northbound.

Munoz was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, then transported to Big Spring Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Ahmed was not injured.

The report says Ahmed was wearing a seatbelt and Munoz was not.

This crash is under investigation.
