The University of Regina Rams gave the University of Laval Rouge-et-Or all they could handle but fell 17-14 Saturday afternoon in the Mitchell Bowl at Mosaic Stadium.
The Rams held a 14-10 lead late in the fourth quarter after running back Marshall Erichsen dashed 36-yards to the end zone with just under four minutes to paly.
Laval, who was heavily favoured entering the game, finally broke free, putting together an 85-yard scoring drive capped off by Isaac Gailardetz’s touchdown catch with 1:19 left from quarterback Arnaud Desjardins.
The Rams finished the regular season with a 3-5 record before upsetting the University of Manitoba Bisons in the opening round of the playoffs and defeating the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to capture the Hardy Cup.
