Major renovations coming to Tuscaloosas Jaycee Park [Video]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Tuscaloosa will invest millions of dollars to renovate the biggest park in the eastern part of the city.

The move could improve the quality of life for residents and bring more visitors to Tuscaloosa, too, according to one city councilman.

The city closed Jaycee Park recently and it will stay that way for a few months as crews begin work on a $9.8 million renovation project.

It would take two hands to count the number of changes planned for the best known park of Tuscaloosa’s Alberta community.

Crews will redo the walking trail, add benches and seating, upgrade the pavilion, put up more lights and security cameras, and modernize the bathrooms.

Tuscaloosa City Councilor Kip Tyner calls 17 outdoor tennis courts the biggest addition to Jaycee Park.

He says that will help the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center next door qualify for national junior tennis tournaments.
