MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – President-elect Donald Trump plans to impose tariffs on imported goods that would impact the local economy.

Trump has pledged to slap a 25% across-the-board tariff on all goods from Mexico and Canada on his first day in office.

One booming industry could be hit harder than most, causing prices to rise on a particular liquor store shelf.

Sisco Larson, the general manager of Joe’s Wines and Liquors, says his customers can expect a sharp spike in tequila prices if these tariffs are imposed.

“Tequila is a booming segment of our business right now and surpasses vodka on a regular basis,” Larson said. “There are plenty of other products that we get from Canada, such as gin. And we get bottles; basically 95% of the bottles in our store come from China.”
