WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service (USPS) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of international mail to Canada due to an ongoing national strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

According to USPS, the suspension is a result of the Canadian postal operator’s inability to process or deliver international mail or services amid the strike. As a result, USPS is advising customers to refrain from mailing items addressed to Canada until further notice.

The suspension affects several postal services, including Priority Mail Express International (PMEI), Priority Mail International (PMI), First-Class Mail International (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service (FCPIS), International Priority Airmail (IPA), International Surface Air Lift (ISAL), Commercial ePacket (CeP), and M-Bag items.

USPS said it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as it becomes available. The Postal Service also advised customers to check the USPS International Service Alerts page or visit Canada Post’s website at canadapost.ca/negotiations for the latest info on the ongoing disruptions.
