Winter storm warnings and weather advisories have been issued across seven states as a weather phenomenon known as an ‘Alberta clipper‘ sinks its teeth into the Northeast.
“A strengthening clipper storm will shift across southeastern Canada Wednesday and Thursday with an arctic cold front crossing the Great Lakes and Northeast which will produce intense bursts of snow and gusty winds,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said in statement Wednesday morning.
With blowing snow, gusty winds and bitterly cold temperatures expected, these systems are a hallmark of winter weather for many parts of the United States.
