MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) – Winter weather will hit Mid-Michigan full force on Wednesday with a mix of snow, wind and cold.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Bay, Genesee, Saginaw, Lapeer, Gratiot, Gladwin, Huron, Oscoda and Tuscola counties from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday.
Counties in the major lake effect snow belts on the western and northern parts of the state are under a Winter Storm Warning. Much heavier snowfall are expected there.
The Storm Tracker 12 Weather Team has declared an Alert Day for Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning as a weather system brings light snow and the coldest air of the season so far.
An Alberta Clipper weather system is expected to drop about 1 to 2 inches of snow across much of Mid-Michigan. While the snowfall total isn’t impressive, it will be wind-blown and possibly reduce visibility for motorists.
