Pamela Anderson has received her first Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a drama.
The B.C. native got a nod this morning for her role in the film “The Last Showgirl.” She plays a seasoned Vegas performer struggling to figure out her next act in life when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run.
She was among several Canadians to be nominated, including another first-timer — Vancouver’s Gabriel LaBelle who’s up for best actor in a motion picture comedy for his turn as Lorne Michaels in Jason Reitman’s film “Saturday Night.”
Meanwhile, Hamilton-born Martin Short has snagged his fourth nomination for playing a theatre director in “Only Murders in the Building.”
Quebec filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is up for best motion picture — drama for his sci-fi sequel “Dune: Part Two.”
