Transport Quebec (MTQ) said on Tuesday that there will be no change to the lane configuration on the Ile-aux-Tourtes Bridge between the Island of Montreal and Vaudreuil-Dorion before the end of the year.
The MTQ hoped to open a fourth lane before the end of 2024, but “some bridge girders have continued to deteriorate in the Senneville sector,” the MTQ said in a news release.
“So, before another lane can be safely reopened, the shoring work underway since last summer must be sufficiently advanced,” the transport ministry said in a news release Tuesday. “In short, work must first be completed on both sides of one of the two piers under construction.”
The ministry said it is trying to open the fourth lane as quickly as possible, but that the complex work involved requires the delay.
