Calgary police say an RCMP officer inadvertently prompted a shelter in place order at an Eau Claire office building on Wednesday.

Officers were called to Eau Claire Tower, located at 600 Third Ave. S.W., at around 10 a.m. for reports of a “suspicious person.”

Those inside the tower were asked to shelter in place while investigators combed the building.

The person who prompted the shelter in place order was located by officers and determined to be an on-duty RCMP officer.

Police say there was “no risk to public safety.”
