From poutine to smoked meat to foie gras, Montreal’s place as an iconic food destination was just reaffirmed.
The restaurant review site TasteAtlas, which charts dishes and flavours across the globe, added three popular Montreal spots to its 100 Most Legendary Restaurants list for 2024-2025. Montreal is the only Canadian city to make the list.
Among the Viennese schnitzel, Neapolitan pizza, and Indian biryani restaurants in the top 20 is Canada’s highest ranked restaurant at number 18; Au Pied de Cochon.

The foie-gras, pork and French onion soup serving shop on Duluth Street was one of two Montreal (and Canada) joints that cracked the top 50, with Schwartz’s smoked meat on Saint-Laurent Boulevard landing at 41.
