The Calgary Fire Department is honouring its newest graduates with a special ceremony on Friday.

The latest class of recruits includes 36 firefighters.

All the graduates completed 13 weeks of training in vehicle extrication, live fire exercises, emergency medical responder training and public education.

The graduates will now be assigned to one of the city’s fire stations for a probationary period as they build up their experience.

Including this latest class of recruits, the CFD has added 116 new firefighters in 2024.
