SiRT investigating serious injuries sustained during arrest in Dartmouth [Video]

The Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating after an adult male was seriously injured during an arrest in Dartmouth on Wednesday.

According to the release, officers with the Halifax Regional Police attempted to arrest a man in a Dartmouth encampment in relation to crimes committed on Monday. Police say the man immediately fled police and resisted arrest.

During the arrest, the man was injured, and had to be taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken collarbone.

“Due to the serious injury sustained by the male, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation,” read the release.

SiRT is responsible for investigating matters involving death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or other matters that may have arisen from the actions of a police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.
