Arctic air settling in on Friday night will lead to a chilly start to the weekend with sub-zero temperatures and cloudy skies expected in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and much of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says a fresh arctic air mass will make Friday evening the coldest night of the season so far, and things will only improve slightly come Saturday morning.

In Mississauga the daytime high is expected to be around -1 C with a wind chill that will make it feel more like -12 C, while the mercury will drop even further in Orillia to a high of -3 C that will feel more like -16 C.

The wind chill should die down somewhat during the day, feeling more like -6 C in Mississauga, Toronto and other parts of the GTA.
