Workers were seen putting fresh boards on a vacant home in Winnipeg’s Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood Sunday, hours after the building’s third fire in less than four months.

According to a city news release, firefighters arrived at the 600 block of Maryland Street around 8:12 a.m. to find smoke billowing from the house. They started battling the blaze from inside, before switching to an exterior attack as conditions shifted.

No one was found inside the building and no injuries were reported.

Crews managed to protect neighbouring homes and buildings while fighting the fire. Those living inside sheltered in place.

The fire was declared under control by 9:25 a.m. The cause is under investigation.

The building had previously seen fires in September and October of this year.
