BOSTON — The Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum will offer free tours to mark the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

251 years ago, on December 161773, the Sons of Liberty dressed as indigenous people, and boarded three ships from the British East India Company.

In three hours, they smashed 342 chests of tea dumping over 92-thousand pounds into Boston Harbor to protest what they perceived were unfair taxes.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. and Abigail’s Tea Room and Museum Gift Shop are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
