A new meals on wheels program is aiming to bring hundreds of meals to needy people in the Halifax Regional Municipality this holiday season.

Jacob Cuvelier, CEO of Cuv’s Cookin’, and his friend Ben Marsh partnered up to launch the program, which prepared 500 meals to be distributed in the community on Wednesday.

“I couldn’t do it without my army of volunteers,” Cuvelier said.

The meals feature hearty favourites like chicken, gravy, carrots and potatoes. Cuvelier and his team handed them out to people in places like the Halifax Forum shelter, the former DoubleTree Hotel on Wyse Road in Dartmouth, and Hope Cottage.

“I feel like this is a way for me to be a catalyst for positivity,” Cuvelier said. “It’s a very important thing for me.”
