The Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage is hosting a special event for foster care families this Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.

This free event, the first of its kind at the center, will include Alaska Native games, dance performances, demonstrations, and guided tours. It’s designed to allow foster care families to connect with Alaska Native culture and be part of a community gathering.

Cultural Tourism Manager Mari Hansell emphasized that the center is a cultural space for everyone, and this event highlights their commitment to outreach and inclusivity.

“We are a cultural center here for the community, so outreach is important to let them know they are always welcome at the heritage center. This is their heritage center and their cultural center,” said Cultural Tourism Manager Mari Hansell.

The event is open to all foster care families and youth in the Anchorage area.
