The avian flu was recently detected at Wildlife World Zoo in the West Valley.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The avian flu has recently been detected in two geese at a Scottsdale park, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Following a flu outbreak that took the lives of multiple animals at Wildlife World Zoo, Arizona’s wildlife officials are reporting another detection of the avian flu that’s been killing a large number of wild birds throughout North America.

The state agency said testing detected the presence of avian flu in a free-range domestic goose and a Canada goose found at the Valley park. The specific park was not disclosed.

Birds with avian flu are generally not considered a health risk for people, the game and fish department said.

Residents can make reports of sick wild birds by calling 623-236-7201.
