Medical emergencies don’t take holidays – and it’s important to prepare for anything heading into the holiday season.

This time of year, while many services close or reduce their hours, it’s important to know where you can get help in the event that you do have medical needs to be met.

If you have a medical emergency do not delay in seeking care, however, according to London Health Sciences Centre, local emergency departments are busiest at Christmas time. It’s always a good idea to check wait times before you go if you’re seeking help for a minor injury or ailment.

Keep your options open, it’s possible that virtual care might be better for you. Non-life threatening needs could be seen to with an appointment online.

You can also get help from a pharmacist for common minor ailments – for example, UTIs, pink eye, or cold sores.
