A 24-year-old Lloydminster man was killed Tuesday after his pickup truck collided with a semi.

The Saskatchewan RCMP says officers from the Maidstone detachment were called to the scene on Highway 17, just north of Lloydminster, around 7:45 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

In a news release late Tuesday afternoon, the RCMP said its investigators at the scene determined a pickup truck had collided with a semi.

The driver of the pickup truck was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Police say they’ve notified the family of the driver, a 24-year-old Lloydminster man.

The semi driver reported no injuries.

Highway 17 was closed during the investigation but has since reopened, the RCMP says. The crash is still being investigated by an RCMP collision analyst.
