Major snowfall expected this weekend in Ontario [Video]

Get ready, Ontario! Another wave of snow and freezing rain will sweep across parts of the province this weekend, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

In northern Ontario, areas west of Lake Nipigon including communities such as Thunder Bay and Nipigon, could see 5 to 10 cm of snow beginning Saturday.

Eastern and northeastern Ontario, including Sudbury, North Bay and Timmins, are under a freezing rain advisory, with conditions expected to persist through Sunday.

For southern Ontario, Environment Canada has highlighted potential rainfall risks for parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Toronto, Peel, York and Durham regions. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm are possible for eastern Ontario, affecting areas like Kingston, Ottawa and Pembroke.

Although there is no mention of heavy snowfall for areas like Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton, or Durham Region at this time, residents are urged to monitor local weather alerts as conditions evolve.
