Light snow fell across portions of central and southern Alberta early Monday, and scattered flurries are expected to continue throughout the day.

Daytime highs across southern Alberta on Monday will be close to seasonal, including in Calgary with a forecast high of -4 C compared to the average high of -3 C.

The end of 2024 and start of 2025 will bring cooler temperatures across most of the country, due to a low-riding jet stream and a persistent infusion of Arctic air.

New Year’s Eve will be mostly cloudy in Calgary with light and scattered snow likely (one to three centimetres possible). The temperature in the early evening will be around -10 C but feel closer to -14, and New Year’s Day will be colder still.
