Man dies at Brandon Correctional Centre [Video]

A 23-year-old man who was in custody at the Brandon Correctional Centre has died and police are investigating.

Brandon police said officers were called around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 29 for reports of an assault.

Police said paramedics were treating the man when officers arrived. He was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Police confirmed he was in custody when the assault happened.

In a media bulletin, Manitoba Justice said no additional information can be provided and noted the man’s death has been reported the office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Brandon Police said no arrest have been made at this time.
