It’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot more like winter in Calgary.

Many Calgarians woke up to a fresh dusting of snow Monday morning, thanks to some overnight flurries, and more light snow is expected for the final day of 2024.

The southern half of the province remains cloaked in flurry-laden clouds for the next five days, with models suggesting up to 11 centimetres of snow could fall on parts of Calgary between now and Thursday.

A pattern change is underway on the temperature front as well.

It truly has been quite a mild holiday season so far, but we won’t carry above-seasonal temperatures into 2025.

Instead, cold air coming from the northwest will only get us to a high of -8 C on New Year’s Eve, with a low of -14 C (not factoring wind chill).
