Jon Hromek has resigned as the leader of the Saskatchewan United Party (SUP).

According to an emailed statement on Tuesday, Hromek said he won’t be moving forward with the party, a decision he said was not made lightly.

“I have spent countless hours listening to you — at town halls, on doorsteps, and in the streets. Your voices, your stories, and your hopes for our province have inspired me deeply. It has been an honor to stand alongside you in the fight for a better Saskatchewan,” his statement read.

While the SUP did not win any seats in October’s provincial election, Hromek noted that placing third in the province overall “reflects a growing desire for change among the people of Saskatchewan.”

In his statement, Hromek did not say what is next for him, but did say his resignation is merely a new beginning.
