As the world welcomed 2025 with celebrations and fireworks, hospitals across the GTA marked the occasion in their own special way—by delivering the year’s first newborns.

Mississauga

Trillium Health Partners announced the arrival of baby boy Huzaifa at Mississauga Hospital at exactly 12 a.m., making him the city’s first bundle of joy for the year.

The couple were actually planning for an earlier due date—New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), to be precise—saying, “He decided to wait until 2025 for his birthday.”

“Congratulations to the proud parents on the arrival of your beautiful little one!” the hospital shared in a post on X with the hashtag #NewYearsBaby.

Happy New Year! We are so excited to announce the arrival of Mississauga’s first bundle of joy in 2025!
