Strong winds to batter B.C.s Howe Sound [Video]

A wind warning has been issued by Environment Canada for southern B.C.’s Howe Sound Friday morning.

Strong northerly gusts will intensify near the mouth of the sound as a low pressure system approaches the coast, reaching up to 90 km/h, said the weather agency.

Environment Canada warns the brief wind storm could cause damage, before the conditions peter off as afternoon rolls in.

On the mainland, the weather will remain stable with a mixture of cloud and rain forecast for Metro Vancouver. Up to 15 millimetres of rainfall is predicted, while easterly winds are expected to linger around the 20 km/h mark.

Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 6 degrees.
