The holidays can be tough and funds can run out quickly.

Some Ontario and Canadian residents should receive benefit cheques or payments in January that could help cover Christmas spending.

In many cases, it is important to file an income tax return to be eligible for the benefits. Learn more about how to apply for benefits here.

Here are all the benefit payments expected for January:

Ontario Trillium Benefit

The Ontario Trillium Benefit, disbursed on a monthly basis, includes the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit.

The next payment for eligible residents is Jan. 10.

Canada Carbon Rebate

The Canada Carbon Rebate, previously called the Climate Action Incentive Payment, is a federal initiative designed to help Canadians manage the financial impact of carbon pricing.
