Jan. 5 weather: Snow and -18 C temperatures to grip southern Ontario [Video]

It looks like two distinct weather systems are making their way into southern Ontario—one bringing crisp, cold air and the other delivering snow. While some areas may only see flurries, others could be blanketed with up to 10 cm of snow. 

For those who enjoy catching the sunrise, Sunday’s 7:50 a.m. view may be obscured by overcast skies.

Ontario residents will wake up to predominantly cloudy skies in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Hamilton, while Durham may experience a mix of clouds and light flurries.

Flurries will begin late morning and continue into the afternoon across all cities. Morning wind chills are expected to reach -14 C in Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton, while Durham and Halton will feel closer to -13 C, with wind speeds of up to 40 km/h across the region.

Daytime highs will fluctuate between the morning and afternoon, with temperatures dropping as the day progresses. In Mississauga and Brampton, temperatures will start at -1 C …
