CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A seasonally cool weather pattern is settling in for the week ahead, bringing a taste of winter’s chill. High temperatures today will peak in the 20s, a notable drop from seasonal averages. Overnight lows will be frigid, dipping into the single digits across much of the area. By Tuesday, clouds will gradually increase, further capping any potential for warmth. Highs will once again hover in the mid-20s, keeping the trend of below-normal temperatures alive.

This chilly setup is driven by a strong Canadian high-pressure system anchored to our north. Its influence is steering northwest winds into the region, reinforcing the cool air and keeping any significant warm-up at bay. Even with sunshine expected on Wednesday, temperatures may struggle to climb out of the teens in many spots, a stark reminder of January’s bite.
