Winnipeg police make arrest in December 2024 homicide [Video]

A 33-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide in the Windsor Park area last month.

Anissa Christy Pompana was arrested on Jan. 2, 2025, and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Byron Frederick Moose on Dec. 27, 2024.

She was detained in custody and the charge has not been tested in court.

Moose, 50, was from O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation. Police allege Moose and Pompana were not previously known to each other, but met at a mutually known location and left together.

Moose was found assaulted and suffering from injuries in the 900 block of Dugas Street. He was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The homicide unit continues to investigate.
