FBI pieces together timeline of Bourbon Street attack [Video]

The FBI continues to review Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s movements to learn more about how the attack was planned.

NEW ORLEANS — Here is the known timeline of events leading up to the deadly attack on Bourbon Street.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Houston, carried out the attack early Wednesday. Investigators said Jabbar was inspired by the Islamic State.

Summer 2023

Jabbar visits Cairo, then Canada. The FBI is investigating if there is a link between this trip and the attack.

Jabbar reserves the truck used in the attack.

Jabbar purchases a semiautomatic rifle from an individual in Arlington, Texas.

2:30 p.m. – Jabbar enters Louisiana.

9 p.m. – Jabbar was seen in Gonzalez, Louisiana.

10 p.m. – Jabbar was seen unloading the truck at a home he had rented in New Orleans.
