Lethbridge police say an investigation into a deadly motorcycle crash last month has concluded without charges.

The crash, between a motorcycle and an SUV, happened in the 4800 block of 24 Avenue South at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.

Police say a motorcycle travelling west on 24 Avenue South hit the driver’s side of an SUV that was making a left turn eastbound onto 24 Avenue.

In a Wednesday news release, police said it’s believed speed was a factor in the crash.

“Witnesses also reported the motorcycle operator engaged in a dangerous maneuver as he overtook another vehicle before striking the SUV,” said police in a news release.

“The driver of the SUV was subsequently unable to see the motorcycle and could not avoid the collision.”

Police say in 2024, there were six fatal collisions in Lethbridge: three motorcycle operators, one pedestrian and two vehicle occupants (one driver and one passenger).
