A Slave Lake man is facing more than two dozen charges in connection with a crash that killed two people and injured several others in August.
Michael Maurice Koochin was arrested and charged on Wednesday.
Laurent Isadore, 38, of Driftpile First Nation, and Tyler Duboski, 33, of Edmonton were killed on the afternoon of Aug. 31 when a semi driven by Koochin crossed the centre line on Highway 2 near Range Road 143 and ploughed into a group from the Redrum Motorcycle Club participating in a charity ride.
Four other motorcyclists were taken to hospital.
Koochin was charged with:
- two counts of criminal negligence, causing death (without firearm);
- six counts of criminal negligence, causing bodily harm;
- two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death;
- six counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle collision causing bodily harm;
- possession of methamphetamine;
