Measles outbreak: Quebec Health Ministry urges caution [Video]

An eleventh case of measles was reported in Quebec. The Health Ministry is urging people to be extra cautious and follow public health recommendations.

The ministry says there were a number of exposure sites in the Laurentians, Laval, Montreal and Montérégie areas. While contagious, the latest case spent time in the halls of CF Carrefour Laval and its Renaud-Bray store on Jan. 7, the ministry said in a news release.

An outbreak was declared in December. 

Thousands of people may have been exposed as measles is highly contagious to those who aren’t protected against the viral disease. It can be contracted simply by being in the same room as a contagious person, even for a short time.

Several other places of exposure to measles have been identified and are available on Quebec’s website.
