Arrest made in Portage la Prairie double homicide: RCMP [Video]

Manitoba RCMP has made an arrest in connection with a double homicide in Portage la Prairie, Man., last month.

On Jan. 9, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service located and arrested a suspect in Sandy Bay, Man.

Preston Whitford, a 30-year-old man from Portage la Prairie, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder. He is in custody, and the charges have not been proven in court.

This arrest is in connection to the homicide of a 42-year-old man and 37-year-old woman who were found dead at a home on Oak Bay on Dec. 1, 2024.

Police previously said the victims were in a relationship, adding that they believe the double homicide was targeted.
