An OC Transpo bus veered off the road and nearly collided with a home in Ottawa’s east end on Sunday morning.

Ottawa police say they responded to the area of Beaverpond Drive and Hallmark Place at approximately 9:45 a.m.

Police say the bus crashed into a street light before stopping in the front yard of a residence.

The cause of the incident is unclear.

An OC Transpo spokesperson says the bus was serving route 26 and had about 20 riders onboard.

Emergency services assessed the driver and one passenger who were both released at the scene. No injuries were reported.

All roads were reopened a short time later, police say.

A replacement bus was later sent to help riders complete their journey.

OC Transpo says it is conducting an internal safety investigation and is fully cooperating with Ottawa police.
