Fire destroyed a homeless encampment in Orangeville last Friday afternoon, but police report there were no injuries in the blaze.
Dufferin County Ontario Provincial Police said police officers and Orangeville firefighters responded to the fire, which quickly engulfed the encampment on First Street shortly before 4 p.m.
Police say no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which broke out in the town of some 30,000 people located just north of the Greater Toronto Area.
Firefighters “were able to put out the flames and confirm there were no safety concerns,” OPP said in a news release on Tuesday, adding they’re grateful to “multiple members of the public who placed calls to emergency services in relation to this fire.”
