Temperatures are expected to stay above zero for one more day on Saturday — albeit accompanied by a mix of snow and rain — in Mississauga, Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.

But then those areas and elsewhere in southern Ontario will see a major shift to considerably colder weather starting Sunday and lasting most of next week.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (formerly Environment Canada) is calling for a high of 3 C across the GTA and down through the Niagara region on Saturday morning, the above-freezing temperatures to be accompanied by cloudy skies and a mix of snow and rain.

The snow/rain mix is expected to end late in the afternoon, but that’s also when the temperature begins to drop to around -1 C, the weather agency predicts.
