Get ready for the return of ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl (Come Toward the Fire) on September 20 and 21. Presented by the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and the Musqueam Indian Band, the Indigenous festival features a two-day format that broadly celebrates Indigenous culture, creativity, and community.

Returning for its fourth year, the festival, whose name was shared by Musqueam elder Larry Grant and translates from “hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓” as “move toward the fire,” highlights the importance of Indigenous voices in societal and cultural discussions.

This year’s programming will include music from across Turtle Island, films, DJs, food trucks, workshops, authors, poets, storytellers, an Indigenous artisan market, children’s programming, and family-friendly activities. Organizers have yet to announce the official lineup, which is expected to be shared closer to the event date.
