16,000 pressed fentanyl pills seized, two people arrested.

SLIDELL, La. — A traffic stop Tuesday evening led to the largest fentanyl pill seizure in St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office history, authorities said.

Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit assisted the Criminal Patrol Division in stopping a gold GMC Yukon on U.S. Highway 11 after observing multiple traffic violations on Dr. T.J. Smith Sr. Expressway near Slidell.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators discovered approximately 16,000 pressed fentanyl pills—nearly five pounds—disguised as counterfeit 30mg Oxycodone tablets. The pills were concealed in the vehicle’s roof and sunroof area, authorities said. Detectives also seized $1,500 in cash.

The driver, Tawan Anthony, 21, of Pearl River, and passenger, Regginald Henry, 41, also of Pearl River, were arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
