Two officers were wounded today due to correlating but separate traffic incidents in Ontario.

OPP alleges that the initial officer — a Lennox and Addington County OPP member — was injured this morning at the scene of a collision on Highway 401 near 7 am.

The officer was at the scene responding to an earlier collision on the westbound lanes near Newburgh Rd on the 401.

The officer was then allegedly struck by a vehicle passing the scene.

OPP officials have reported that the officer was then transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, the westbound lanes of the 401 were closed for a portion of the day so that OPP Collision Reconstructionists and an investigation team could review both the initial and subsequent collision.

Fast-forward to an hour later at 8 am, Lennox and Addington County OPP then reported that a second officer was injured …
