    The American Airlines passenger plane was a Canadian-made Bombardier CRJ-701 twin-engine jet manufactured in 2004. It can be configured to carry up to 70 passengers.

    The helicopter was a UH-60 Black Hawk based at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, according to the U.S. Army. Manufacturer Lockheed Martin said the aircraft can carry up to 12 troops.
