MUSKOGEE, Okla. — A former Oklahoma deputy was sentenced to 70 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of Destruction, Alteration, or Falsification of Records to Obstruct a Federal Investigation.

FOX23 previously covered when 29-year-old Wesley Wayne Hunter Jr. was arrested on a second degree rape charge in August 2023.

According to court documents, as Hunter was transporting a woman from Bryan County to the Canadian County jail on an outstanding warrant, he was accused of driving to a remote location and sexually assaulting her.

Hunter was then charged with aggravated sexual abuse, deprivation of rights and falsification of records. On June 5, 2024, Hunter pleaded guilty only to the charge of falsification of records.

According to investigators, Hunter purposefully turned off location services on his work phone while transporting a pretrial detainee from Bryan County to Canadian County before he pulled his patrol car off the proper transport route.
