Mexico has announced retaliatory tariffs on the US in response to Donald Trump‘s blistering trade war against America’s closest neighbors.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered ‘Plan B’ to go into effect, including a raft of measures that she said would extend beyond tariffs.

Sheinbaum did not provide any specifics but Mexico has previously signaled it would impose levies ranging from 5 to 20 percent on pork, cheese, fresh produce, steel and aluminum. Mexico supplies 90 percent of avocados bought by Americans.

It comes as Canada‘s Justin Trudeau held a dramatic news conference last night to announce he will impose tariffs on a basket of US goods worth $107billion.

Trump on Friday announced he would impose a 25 percent tariff on Canada and Mexico as well as a 10 percent levy on goods from China. Canadian energy was hit with a 10 percent tariff.
