Downtown Oshawa

It will be a grudge match in Oshawa on March 4 when voters cast their ballots in the snap provincial election called by Ontario Doug Ford, with Jerry Ouelette, who served 19 years as MPP until he was trounced in 2014 by Jennifer French, trying to win the seat back for the Progressive Conservatives.

French, who won that election for the NDP in 2014 by nearly 7,700 votes, has held the riding ever since.

Ouelette served the residents of Oshawa south of Taunton Road from 1995 until 2014 and was Minister of Natural Resources during Ernie Eves’ brief stint as Premier.

French currently serves as the Opposition critic for Transportation and Highways.
