A Mississauga woman has been charged with impaired driving after a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, swerved into a snowbank and then found its way back into the right lane Monday morning in Ontario cottage country.

Ontario Provincial Police Huronia West Detachment officers said the vehicle was travelling in an area southwest of Wasaga Beach at around 8:15 a.m. when a police officer saw it “swerve from one lane into oncoming traffic and strike a snowbank before returning to their original lane of travel.”

The officer pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver.

“After a brief discussion with the driver, the officer conducted an impaired driving investigation,” OPP said in a news release.

A 62-year-old Mississauga woman was subsequently charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs). She’s scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
