Local junior curler sends out ceremonial first rock of Men’s Provincial Championship – PortageOnline.com [Video]

Oakville’s Colton Olafson had a chance to participate in the Opening Ceremonies at the Viterra Men’s Provincial Championship on Wednesday, February 5. 

Olafson led the curling team at Portage Collegiate Institute to a pair of Zone Four Championships in 2023 and 2024, as well as a Provincial Championship in 2023.

He also led his own team to a win on the Manitoba Junior Curling Tour at a tournament in Selkirk this season.

Olafson says that getting the opportunity to be a part of the ceremony was something he is really proud of.

“It’s a really special atmospere going on. It’s a lot of pressure to get a good rock, and not fall, but it was amazing.”

Olafson just graduated from high school this summer, and he says the shot worked out pretty well.
